RDC Badge T-shirt Design

This was a fun project to work on. RDC (race-desert.com) needed a fresh, new design for a t-shirt. The goal for the project was to make something cool, something that the off road community would like and something that would sell! I started by doing some competitor research, then created some mood boards of cool, inspirational off road and motorsport content. I also reflected back to memorable events during my first Baja 500 experience. Seeing all the vehicles parade for contingency, traveling up to the observatory and meeting Weatherman, chasing few vehicles during race day, queso tacos... good times.

The plan: make a smash up of a vintage "badge" (where the shirt's name came from) + vintage colors + a trophy truck in the desert. After drawing a few thumbnails of possible layouts, I then began working in Illustrator. Once I was happy with the colors and the design, it was taken into Photoshop. Shout out to Aaron Draplin, who inspired me to use one of his techniques to add texture to the design. The front design was created shortly after.

The shirts and hoodies turned out awesome and I was a happy with the final product.

Role: T-shirt design.
Software: Illustrator and Photoshop.
