Catty Catrina

This carina graphic was created for a demo presented at a MAT Club meeting and a photoshop class where I was an embedded tutor. The purpose of the demo was to show students and fellow club members how fun it is to create a character graphic in Illustrator and animate it in After Effects. After sketching a few Catrinas, I chose one and imported it into illustrator. This was meant to be a simple 4 color character but as always, I like to take it another step and added more colors - bringing the character to life. Photoshop was used to add some noise and texture to make it feel more like an illustration. Project then moved into After Effects for animating and exported with H264 codec for a reasonable file size. Pro tip: always label your layers. What started as a simple graphic evolved into a fun creative project.

The presentation went well.

p.s. The graphic was last used to create a Lottie animation for a future UX/UI project.

Role: Character design and animation.
Software: Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects.
