91X X-Fest Poster Design

This poster was created for the 2015 91X X-Fest Poster Design Contest. I wanted to pay homage to the old Tales from the Crypt comics and add a little touch of The Ramones. Originally, I was going to create an X-Men themed design inspired by Jim Lee's 1990's comic book run, but I felt like a good smash up of comic book horror and punk rock would be better suited for the festival. Requirements fot the poster were: the event name, event date, station logo, venue name and participating bands.

What I liked about this project was that I was able to add a little bit of me in the main character. I own a red guitar, I rock out to The Ramones, and I grew up watching the Tales from the Crypt tv show on late night cable tv when I was a kid.

One of the challenging parts of this project was near the end of its completion, the dimensions changed, and I needed to extend some parts of the illustration such as the background and guitar.

Other memorable moments were, seeing concert attendees picking up the poster and lovin' the design, being in the pit section watching the Cult rock out and guest judge, Shepard Fairey, commenting on my design.

Role: Poster design.
Software: Autodesk Sketchbook, Illustrator and Photoshop.
